Charlotte Clark's anatomical lady on our mantlepiece.
We don't need to tell you how great the feeling is finding something quirky and unusual for your home. And how it's even better when you know you are able to support a small and independent designer or maker - that knowledge you are able to shop mindfully and buy because you want it rather than just because it is bargain. With Folksy, Etsy and Notonthehighstreet marketplaces its not hard to feel overwhelmed with many makers making lovely ( but far from unusual) pieces.
So, here at Morticia Olga towers we want to share some of our favourites with you. Each week we will focus on three fabulous quirky makers.

Kayleigh Radcliffe

Image taken from Kayleigh Radcliffe's Etsy
Lancashire based illustrator and maker specialising in amazing anthromophised animal prints and handmade figures ( as well as decorations for your Christmas tree). Her prints have her humanised animals placed in nature and or alongside humans. They have a sense of Victoriana about them alongside steampunk gothic, with a fair share of contemporary cultural references ( David Bowie Cat for example!)
Even better if you are on a budget she also produces a range of greeting cards that you could easily frame in a inexpensive frame and add to your gallery wall for next to nothing.
Her figures are so beautiful, and if you follow her on Instagram she regularly posts fascinating 'Work in Progress' images, so you can see just how much love and care goes into making them.
Perfect for a centrepiece on a table, focus inside a display cabinet, propped on a shelf or sitting on your mantlepiece, these guys can fit in anywhere and can be styled up with some amazing faux foliage, antique bits, empherea or books.
She has her own website and sells through Notonthehighstreet and Etsy and regularly adds things to her stores. She also does craft and maker fairs throughout the country ( including Liverpool and London) and most importantly is friendly and approachable - I regularly chat to her on Instagram and she is a delight!

Tattooed lady on our Mantlepiece.

Anatomical Lady.
We first came across Charlotte at the Macabre Market at the Bart's Pathology Museum. Her stall rammed with amazingly quirky and gothic themed home decor, kitchenware and art pieces. Lots or anatomical imagery, tattoo's/ skulls and vintage floral designs. Since then ( and a few purchases later!!) she is growing her business at a steady pace, with a brand new studio/ showroom based in her Shropshire location and regular spots at both craft and homeware trade shows across the UK. Her range has expanded at a similar pace and there are items available for people on any budget.

My two favourite ranges of hers are her animal skeleton kitchenware and her classical ladies with tattoos /anatomical imagery.
She sells her wedding range on Notonthehighstreet and her other ranges through her own website. Follow her social media for any news on fairs and studio open days.
She also offers a service or adding her designs onto ceramic ware you already own, obviously this isn't necessarily possible on everything and it would be best to contact her directly through her website to discuss any requirements.
Spooky Shades

Vintage Comic pinup shade
Run by a marvellous women called Elisa - this French small business sells through Etsy and has a fantastic range of shades for both ceiling lights and lamps. We bought two shades for our bedroom a few years ago to use on our beside tables.
Her range covers images from pinups, vintage comics, Tim Burtonesque, horror, zombies, Victoriania, circus, gothic and contemporary pop culture. I particularly adore the pinup stuff as it's so hard to get stylish looking pinup themed home decor - without it looking naff. So definitely take a look pinup fans!
She even did a made to measure size shade for a table lamp in our front room. We fell in love with the base and bought it without a shade - but then saw the victorian style sealife shade but it didn't come in an impressive enough size for our base - we wanted it large and tall. She kindly agreed to make it for us and with such speedy delivery too.
This is a fantastic way to get alternative themes into your decor whilst remaining stylish too, you won't run the risk of it looking like a teenage goths bedroom ( unless of course you have or are one !)
We fitted our bedside shades onto mismatching vintage bases so they look even more quirky and confidently will look good whatever new decor we choose for the master bedroom.
