Friday fandom - The game is on... how to add a piece of Sherlock to your home.

Our house is full of colections, we have between us a fair few obsessions - many of which are fictional characters featured in book, film or television. I have always loved Shelock Holmes of Conan Doyle's imagination, having read the books as a child, watched on TV Jeremy Brett's version of the world's first consulting detective and been engrossed... then along came Sherlock and I was hooked even further!
I cannot deny the attraction of Mr Cumberbatch but this is not the only reason I fell in love with this rebooted 21st Century Sherlock - it's aesthetics are second to none and each set so beautifully dressed. The talented cast members, writers and direction goes without saying but I think the series visuals are often ignored when discussing the show.
However, the creative world does not seem to have ignored Sherlock and has taken its visual cues and produced a great deal of items that you could include in your styling scheme to pay homage to or create that Sherlockian feel in you room.
The first on the list have to be various art works which are available. The illlustration by And Smile Studio above is my favourite, bought as a gift for me and will be hung in our front room
(come library). I must mention these illustrations are also available on their website as little badges ( which are darling) I know not home related but worthy of a mention! Looking through a website such as Etsy you will find many more art works ( some perhaps a little better than others!!!).
I rather like this reproduction 'cast iron' Baker Street sign by Handsome Signs on Etsy - which would look rather stylish displayed on a wall or propped up on a shelf.

How about a cushion featuring the wallpaper pattern from 221b ? Then have a look at this quirky Bored Sherlock smiley cushion by Unique Geekie on Etsy

On a slightly silly note you can even get a "Sherlock's study" scented candle by Frostbeard.

Speaking of Wallpaper the fabric & Wallpaper site Spoonflower lets you print the fabric or wallpaper you require ( even giving you a facility to design your own too) this rather quirky Art Noveau inspired Sherlock wallpaper is definatley worth a look for the ultimate fan.

The true fan of course wants to literally have some of Sherlock's style put into their interiors scheme. Perhaps the most recognisable decor from the lounge in 221b is the Zoffany Navarre wallpaper. Which despite being on the pricey side is very much a stylish investment.

In the most recent episode of Sherlock shown on New Years day we saw Benedict and co go back in time - this version of 221B Baker Street was also gorgeous, as a lover of all things Victorian I could happily steal the whole room design for our home ( had we not already designed our front room!!). The most accesible item from this set is the print by Allan C Gilbert called 'All is Vanity' - which is available here as a cheap reproduction - but would look rather dashing in a ornate frame - a knowing nod to the Sherlock fandom.
